The Bart & Dee Dee Schmolke Scholarship Program

Bart and Dee Dee Schmolke live, work and have raised a family in Alexandria, LA. Having six degrees from LSU in their immediate family, they understand not only the expenses but the rewards one reaps by receiving a degree from LSU.  They are active with LSU through the academic and athletic programs. Understanding that the cost of attending college continues to go up, they would like to help a first year student better afford it.  So they are instituting a scholarship program where they will award a deserving freshman funds to help offset the costs of attending LSU.

The scholarship will be offered each year to a deserving freshman from Rapides Parish. The scholarship will be for $2,000 total.  $1,000 will be paid in September and the remaining $1,000 will be paid in January.  This scholarship is for two semesters only, one academic year.  Each September a new freshman will be selected to receive the scholarship.  The funds are to be used to help defray any education expenses that the student may encounter and help acclimate the student during their freshman year.
